Rice balls in dhal gravy
For the rice balls you need
1. Idly rice 1 cup ( I used brown matta rice)
2. Coconut grated 1/2 cup
3. Salt to taste
Soak rice for 6 hours or overnight. Grind this with coconut and salt without water (I used my wet grinder ) to a thick dough.
Make small balls with this dough. Keep aside.
For the dhal gravy you need
1. Tuvar dhal 1/2 cup
2. Green chillies (cut lengthwise) 4
3. Red chillies (cut into pieces) 2
4. Curry leaves few
5. Mustad 1tsp
6. salt to taste
7. Ghee or Oil for seasoning
Pressure cook dhal with green chillies untill soft. Add salt and enough water.(it should be watery like rasam). Do the seasoning with mustad, dry chillies and curry leaves in ghee or oil .Boil the gravy . Put the flame on low and add the rice balls one by one. Cover and cook on low heat for 20 minutes or untill the rice balls are cooked. Once cooked the gravy will get thick . Serve hot.
